Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Rabbids movies on the way

Ubisoft's film division lines up feature films based on three more of its major franchises; company now producing six total films.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures is currently working on movies based on the Watch Dogs, Far Cry, and Rabbids franchises, according to a new report from Hollywood news site .

The company now has six movies in the pipeline, as these new projects join the previously announced Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon movies.

Similar to its other upcoming films, for Watch Dogs, Far Cry, and Rabbids, Ubisoft will retain creative control of the projects as they become full-length feature films.

With such a structure in place, "no one can tell us you have to do the movie a certain way," Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet told the site.

The Rabbids movie will be a live-action project featuring the bunnies as computer-generated characters similar to how The Smurfs is presented. No further information about the Watch Dogs or Far Cry films was made available.

Baronnet made clear that the upcoming films will stand on their own, not borrowing any plot from past games beyond general universe and character details.

Ghost Recon joins in-production Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed movies.

Ubisoft has announced that it's working with Michael Bay and Warner Bros. Pictures to produce its feature film based on the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series of games.

Bay is responsible for directing the Transformers movies, including the upcoming Transformers 4.

Ubisoft launched the Ghost Recon series back in 2001 and has spawned numerous sequels over the last decade. The last title in the series was Ghost Recon Online, which was released for the PC in August 2012.
